Statements Regarding HB321/SB273 of the First Session of the 113th Tennessee General Assembly

The Tennessee Road Builders Association appreciates Governor Bill Lee's prioritization of infrastructure and the commitment to expand rural interstates and reduce urban congestion.  TRBA supports the Transportation Modernization Act and urges the General Assembly to approve the Governor's request of $3.3 Billion to build and maintain our roads and bridges to support the ever-expanding population and commerce in the Great State of Tennessee.  We applaud the increase that begins to put electric vehicles on par paying for Tennessee's roads and bridges as gas and diesel powered vehicles long have.

Tennessee Infrastructure Alliance lauds Governor Bill Lee and TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley for their foresight and plan to advance and expand our transportation system.

Their work launches an effort to prevent what otherwise would become consistent travel delays never before experienced in Tennessee.   With a population beyond 7 million people driving on an aging interstate system that was essentially built to accommodate 3 million, the Governor's leadership on this issue is crucial to Tennessee's continued success.

Statements Related to Governor Bill Lee's Historic Investment of $3.3 Billion Towards Transportation

The Tennessee Road Builders Association supports Governor Lee’s budget initiative to provide $3.3 billion in additional funding to upgrade our transportation infrastructure to reduce congestion; improve safety; and to provide economic development opportunities.  Specifically, we have been and remain committed to supporting funding to 6-lane (3 lanes in each direction) our rural Interstates and to add significant capacity to our state’s urban transportation networks.  TRBA will be reviewing the legislation and looks forward to a robust conversation with the administration and the legislature on this important issue.

Tennessee Infrastructure Alliance applauds Governor Bill Lee’s 2023-24 budget proposal revealed last night to provide TDOT with an additional $3 billion and Tennessee’s 95 counties with an additional $300 million to provide improved transportation investments in our great state.
